I’ve gotten some grief about my email being hard to find – so here are a few ways to reach me right off the bat-

I believe education ought to be interesting to students because I think the world is interesting.  Interesting often means entertaining but also includes challenging (as opposed to easy).

I never planned to be a teacher. I never took an education class until after I started teaching.  I’m still not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

I took over a 6th grade class after the first teacher quit about two weeks into the new school year. It was an alternative school.  The two years I spent there really changed my perceptions of a lot of things.

Greetings from New York State from the Lower Hudson Regional Information Center (www.lhric.org). We are a consortium of school districts in three counties and our Center provides services to 63 districts around instructional technology: planning, support, professional development, and recruiting local and national talent (see http://www.lhric.org/tli/index.html for our schedule of speakers for our Leadership Institute) .
A few of us have been following your blog and see a lot of the same passions and challenges. Would you be up for brainstorming and swapping stories and ideas?

  2. Delete this comment once you’ve fixed it, but you’ve misspelled Web site in your comment form! “Website,” “Web site,” “website,” I’ve seen a lot of different ways to spell it. “Webseite” is a new one, though. Is that a silent “e”?

  3. You can always tell a real English teacher! :) My wife is one, I just pretend. She can’t live with typos or any other writing error for that matter. I tend to be more forgiving but this one isn’t totally my fault.

Oddly enough this theme was originally written in German. I’ve found and changed most of the German words but missed that one as I see a different layout when logged in. I did leave the “von” in the side bar as it seemed amusing to me (but then again I’m easily amused).

  4. I noticed the “von” and figured that you left it in from some kind of translation just for kicks. It is amusing, so you know. It’s not just you.

    Hi Tom,

I work with schools in Virginia and have found great success with sharing videos with teachers and administrators. The Elementary Math video was perfect. Do you have any others that are available? It would be nice to have some secondary examples.
