I fell in love with computers in one night. I was spending the night at Pete’s house. His dad sat me down in front of their new 386dx computer and showed me how to maneuver through DOS. I sat in front of that screen until dawn–exploring every directory, looking for .exe, .int, and .bat files to run and see what popped up on the screen.
Since that night, I have marveled at the way technology continues to surprise people. I really believe the computer combined with the web are the great equalizer in this world. For that reason, I worked hard in my middle school English classroom to infuse my instruction with technology. Inspired by the results, I left the classroom and am now the instructional technology resource teacher (ITRT) at Varina High School.
