The Party Line
Non-Programistan is founded on three essential principles.
Friendliness
Making mash ups should be like greeting an old comrade. You should speak the same language. It should be pleasant. “Code” is verboten! So are hassles. If I wanted to do something the hard way I’d become a programmer.
Openess
One of the inherent beliefs of mashups and Non-Programistan is that information is free. If your program is not open, at least with a published API, then we have a problem. With no openness we are left without widgets, plugins etc. that allow us to do what we need to do without programming. This is a bad thing.
Portability
What good is a mashup if you can’t take it with you or put it where you need it? Gone are the days of imperialist silos! We will not be imprisoned by your walls. We have places we want to put this stuff (and we move a lot so we may need to move it somewhere else). Make that easy or else.
