Other Uses for Comic Life

I’ve been using Comic Life for a while now (which is probably pretty obvious to anyone who reads regularly) BUT I’m trying to help get a site license approved for the county so I made up two quick examples of other types of uses today and figured I’d post them.

If anyone has done anything cool with Comic Life and feels like sharing some examples of student or teacher work I’d appreciate it.

The history example hits on SOLs 6c and 6d dealing the Revolutionary War and why the colonists won.

This example is meant to show how it can make relatively dull vocabulary work more entertaining. Sure, could do something similar in Word BUT the key is that Comic Life makes this both very easy and very fun. I seem to recall that fun things work better with kids.

  1. After drooling over all of your Comic Life pages you’ve been posting, I decided to visit the Plasq website on the off chance that a windows version MIGHT be in the works. I had a huge “OMG” moment when I saw that they have a beta version for Windows and it’s ready for downloading. I can’t wait!!!

  2. Glad to hear it Ben. It’s an awesome program. I hope it works half as well on a PC.

  3. Pam,

Thanks for taking the time to pass that on. Sorry I was so slow in thanking you.

  4. This is such a fantastic program! Is it okay to let my students download the 30-day trial version onto their ibooks? Also, have you been able to make any headway on getting a site license for the county? Thanks for your help!

  5. Gillian,

You can’t install programs on the student iBooks. They set things up so that’s virtually impossible without the TST passwords.

I’m still working on a site license. I’d recommend talking to your specialist and getting others to take part in that as well. That’s one place we can create pressure for getting the program.

  6. Totally love Comic Life and so do my students. Great program that has many uses. On a side note, I am way impressed with your blog there is just a ton here.

    1. Francie- Comic life is great. Glad the blog is useful. I’ve been working at it for a while. Things add up, even with my erratic posting habits.
