It’s in writing now, and that was at least part of the battle right there. Putting it into words, laying it down on this piece of digital paper. For too long I’ve felt like I couldn’t define myself on the web. I was too busy following to lead, too busy listening to speak, too busy reading what others have done, to do something myself and maybe even write about it. That’s all about to change. I’m joining ds106 in January and this blog will be an integral part of that process. We’re all coming together in this open online course for different reasons and that’s OK. For me, this is about speaking up, creating and not just consuming on the web.

Digital Storytelling (also affectionately known as ds106) is an open, online course that will begin on January 10th, 2011. This course is free to anyone who wants to take it, and the only requirements are a real computer (none of those wimpy ass iPads), a hardy internet connection, a domain of your own, some commodity web hosting, and all the creativity you can muster (and we’ll spend time helping you get up and running with at least two of the last three requirements).
Geospatial Semester – CISAT – JMU
The Geospatial Semester is a unique partnership between high schools in Virginia and the Integrated Science and Technology department at James Madison University (JMU). High school seniors participating in the Geospatial Semester take classes on geospatial technology in their home school and can earn credit from JMU. A key aspect of the program is a focus on local projects connecting students, technology, and their community.
