Our pedagogy must evolve beyond traditional methods to a model that fully integrates AI’s strengths while protecting the distinctly human skills that AI cannot replace—critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and creativity, as highlighted in the AACSB report Building Future-Ready Business Schools with Generative AI. AI should augment human intelligence, not replace it. Our role as educators is to redesign curricula that leverage AI while cultivating the irreplaceable human qualities of judgment, empathy, and collaboration, ensuring that students remain the leaders and innovators in an increasingly AI-driven world.

Essential Considerations for Addressing the Possibility of AI-Driven Cheating, Part 2 | Faculty Focus
Redesigning assignments can reduce the potential for cheating with AI. Students are more likely to cheat when there is a stronger focus on scores (grades) than learning (Anderman, 2015), there is increased stress, pressure, and anxiety (Piercey, 2020), there is a lack of focus on academic integrity, trust, and relationship building (Lederman, 2020), the material is not perceived to be relevant or valuable to students (Simmons, 2018), and instruction is perceived to be poor (Piercey, 2020).
AI Content Detectors Don’t Work (The Biggest Mistakes They Have Made)
“Write a 1,000-1,500 word statement declaring independence from England. Lay out principles of human rights and self-governance. List grievances against the tyrant king. Then, reaffirm the intent to form a new sovereign nation (working title: “the United States of America”). Use eloquent, inspirational rhetoric drawing from Enlightenment political philosophy (John Locke, etc.). End with a flourish.”
–This pattern would make for some fun prompt writing contests. It’d hit the ability to summarize the goal document, build prompt skills, and work in evaluation of the product.
GENAI DETECTION TOOLS, ADVERSARIAL TECHNIQUES AND IMPLICATIONS FOR INCLUSIVITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION
This study investigates the efficacy of six major Generative AI (GenAI) text detectors when confronted with machine-generated content that has been modified using techniques designed to evade detection by these tools (n=805). The results demonstrate that the detectors’ already low accuracy rates (39.5%) show major reductions in accuracy (17.4%) when faced with manipulated content, with some techniques proving more effective than others in evading detection.

When Was the Last Time You Finished a Book? You Need an AI Reading Companion Like Me | WIRED
“Which is exactly what I did when I got access to a beta version of the app and clicked on The Great Gatsby, with New York Times journalist Peter Catapano as the Rebinder. “Was Gatsby just a rich jerk?” I asked AI-Catapano: “Gatsby’s character is complex and multidimensional, not easily reduced to the label of a ‘rich jerk,’” he (it?) chided me. “In fact, Gatsby also enters the book as a very soft-spoken and rather humble-seeming person. He’s perhaps flashy with his home, his parties, and his belongings but seems relatively subdued in his appearance and manner of speaking.” The cadences were slightly stiff—Dubuque said that as the models get faster and smarter, the responses are getting more creative and conversational—but having my admittedly dumb question pondered seriously in real time did feel engaging, and made me want to keep reading and chatting.”
Researchers say AI transcription tool used in hospitals invents things no one ever said | AP News
A machine learning engineer said he initially discovered hallucinations in about half of the over 100 hours of Whisper transcriptions he analyzed. A third developer said he found hallucinations in nearly every one of the 26,000 transcripts he created with Whisper.
The problems persist even in well-recorded, short audio samples. A recent study by computer scientists uncovered 187 hallucinations in more than 13,000 clear audio snippets they examined.
That trend would lead to tens of thousands of faulty transcriptions over millions of recordings, researchers said.
The Open Source AI Definition – 1.0 – Open Source Initiative
AI system2: An AI system is a machine-based system that, for explicit or implicit objectives, infers, from the input it receives, how to generate outputs such as predictions, content, recommendations, or decisions that can influence physical or virtual environments. Different AI systems vary in their levels of autonomy and adaptiveness after deployment.
Machine learning3: is a set of techniques that allows machines to improve their performance and usually generate models in an automated manner through exposure to training data, which can help identify patterns and regularities rather than through explicit instructions from a human. The process of improving a system’s performance using machine learning techniques is known as “training”.

Archivists Say Fortnite Developer Threatens ‘Cultural Heritage’
Sketchfab users who champion open access are worried that Epic Games’ ownership and transition to Fab puts thousands of 3D models used for science and preservation at risk.
–Who could possibly expect the same pattern to repeat itself over and over and over and over . . . ?
