It’s been a bit hectic of late. That and a bit of rain led to less photos than normal lately. I take a number of these low angle dog shots. I tend to miss most because dogs move and I can’t see through the view finder. This one worked out pretty well but I missed […]
This was at the train station around 5:20 AM. I like the dull colors and almost stupor like gaze of the man against the open-mouthed-hyper-enthusiasm of the TV “personality.” I didn’t get quite as close as I wanted. I shot fairly quickly because I couldn’t believe he’d keep holding that awkward pose. Another early […]
This one was made entirely by the book covers. I liked the glimpse it gave of how she spent her time on the bus. I’m not exactly sure where this bus comes from but it drops off a number of people each day and it is an interesting group. “That mother . . . . […]
A number of attempts at street photography . . . I liked the mix of colors and lines and the mix of people who noticed the camera and those who were oblivious. I am making more of an effort to frame the shot despite the fact that it tends to alert people a bit […]
I’ve cropped this just about every way possible but keep coming back to this one. There is a chunk of empty asphalt. It also isn’t going to do as well in a small view as it’s easy to miss the kid on the handlebars and the cigarette- the very things that make the picture. I […]
At this point I’m taking between 200 and 300 pictures most days. I end up keeping about 1 out of 10. There’s talk about taking fewer pictures making you a better photographer. Maybe. I’m having fun and trying out lots of things so I’m ok with lots of pictures. Some shots I take I know […]
The mix of reflection and texture in this shot was what appealed to me. The Scott House is a pretty impressive place. Fall leaves on the bricks and the napkins with the napkins echoing the shapes of the bricks- it seemed almost intentional. This looks better large but the texture and color […]
There are lots of pictures this week. I’ve been walking in an entirely new area and that’s been interesting. I’m also playing around a bit with adding more commentary about what I liked about the pictures. Race cars on the streets of Richmond are fun and this one had an interesting background that echoed the […]
As part of the Connected Courses MOOC, we were talking a bit about understanding different networks and how to both navigate them and use their vocabulary/tools. The picture above captures a few interesting elements along those lines. I took the picture walking to work. It was one of those fortuitous moments which happen much more […]
This set has a pretty strong Fall theme- lots of leaves. There are still kids in the woods if you’re there to look for them. […]
