The lens bokeh and the net lines lead to some interesting effects at times. I need to do something more intentional with it. A blurry photo but one that reminded me of an old nature documentary showing gazelles grazing during a heat wave in Africa. Kind of a fun obstruction shot. The colors line up […]

Photography in October
The hands up for the touchdown from the QB is part of why I like this one. Doesn’t hurt that it’s my child either. Decent focus. Nice background. I wish I was a little more head on and he was entirely in frame, but it’s a nice series of a great play. I like trying […]
I still take pictures
This is an odd mix of some on-the-road shots and some football. I’ve got a bunch of stuff from Maine and various road trips that I need to get up on Flickr but now that football is going . . . I’ll have several thousand shots to keep me busy each weekend. I ended up […]
Mixed Photography
I’ve been doing some basketball photography. It’s different than football. Easier in some ways. There’s a lot less space to cover, a lot fewer people, so it’s easier to see what’s going on and you don’t need to move as much. At the same time, things move more quickly (even with younger kids) and the […]
Photography – December-ish
A mix of photos from Cape Cod and the Outer Banks. A bit of motion blur from the intentionally slow shutter speed. Not terrible for no tripod. I bought a tripod with Christmas money so we’ll see what options that opens up in the future. f22 for aperture, shooting into the sun for some odd […]
Winter Festival Photography
I was asked to take pictures at the kids’ school for the Winter something or rather. It was a combination of an art show, an unveiling of the holiday lights, and a concert representing a variety of classes and clubs. I’ve been watching a video series from National Geographic on taking great photographs. It certainly […]
Concert Photography
I got a last minute request to photograph Trinity’s student music show a few weeks ago. I was hesitant. It was the night of their state championship football game which I was photographing. I knew I’d have 3000+ photos from that and would have spent about 4 hours taking pictures. The idea of adding several […]
Road Trip Photography
When we go on long road trips my wife insists on driving. If I’m not sleeping I tend to try to take pictures. It’s an interesting challenge. Much of the time we’re on the highway moving along at 70mph and that makes it a bit like reverse sports photography. You have to see the thing […]
Photography and Progress
I’ve been taking pictures now for around 15 years. I start the clock around the time my dad brought a DSLR to our house and decide to leave it for me to use. It was a Canon Rebel XT and I still have it. This is the camera that made me realize I could take […]
